Dr. James Yun
Medical Director
With winter in full swing here in mid-January 2026, we’re right in the heart of what we call laser season that ideal window when reduced sun exposure allows for optimal healing and minimal risk of complications like hyperpigmentation. But laser season won’t last forever; as spring approaches and UV rays intensify, we become very judicious about scheduling laser appointments beyond mid-March. If you’re ready to transform your skin fading stubborn spots, smoothing texture, or softening deep lines the time to act is now.
I’ll dive into the benefits of laser treatments, spotlight our options for tackling sun damage, share which methods suit different age groups, highlight our cutting-edge technology, detail what to expect from the process, and explain how to make laser part of your long-term skin health with an annual treatment plan. I strongly encourage you to book a laser consultation and resurfacing appointment today time is of the essence and spots are filling up fast!

Do These Sound Familiar? Let’s See If Laser Season Is Calling Your Name
Many of our patients come in frustrated by the same persistent concerns:
- Do you have stubborn brown spots, sunspots, or red spots that topical creams just can’t fade?
- Is your skin showing uneven texture, roughness, or enlarged pores from years of sun exposure?
- Are you bothered by deep wrinkles around the mouth and eyes those etched lines from smiling, talking, and living life fully?
- Do you notice dullness, fine lines, or overall photoaging making you look tired even when you feel energized?
- Have you tried other treatments but want something more transformative for lasting smoothness and radiance?
If any of these resonate, our Sciton-powered laser treatments are tailored exactly for concerns like yours. I personally conduct your laser consultation to understand your goals, assess your skin health, and recommend a customized plan often stacking technologies for maximum impact while respecting your downtime tolerance.
The Remarkable Benefits of Laser Treatments
Laser therapies are a game-changer, offering non-surgical solutions with dramatic improvements and relatively little downtime. Key benefits include:
- Collagen Boost and Skin Tightening: Stimulating natural collagen production for firmer, more elastic skin and reduced sagging.
- Reduction of Fine Lines and Wrinkles: Resurfacing the surface and remodeling deeper layers to smooth creases and restore youthfulness.
- Even Tone and Pigmentation Correction: Targeting excess melanin to fade dark spots, redness, and uneven coloration for brighter, uniform skin.
- Improved Texture and Pore Refinement: Smoothing rough patches, minimizing pores, and refining scars through cellular turnover.
- Minimal Invasiveness: Many options are non-ablative or gently ablative, with quick recovery often just days of mild redness.
- Long-Lasting Results: Effects endure months or years with proper aftercare, especially when paired with a solid skincare routine.
Our patients frequently share not just visible changes but renewed confidence safe, natural-looking outcomes without an “overdone” appearance.
Cutting-Edge Technology at MeiRai Medical Aesthetics
We feature the Sciton Joule platform a versatile leader in precision and safety across skin types. This all-in-one system powers HALO, Contour TRL, ProFractional, and BBL Photo Facials with customizable depths/wavelengths. We add Exion Clear for pigmentation. We also have the Sciton 1064 ClearScan for those unsightly spider veins. FDA-cleared and clinically proven, it delivers comfort (built-in cooling) and authentic, often immediate results.
Tackling Sun Damage: Our Targeted Laser Treatments
Sun damage (sunspots, melasma, rough texture, premature aging) is one of the top issues we treat. Our lasers reverse UV effects by breaking down damaged cells and promoting healthy regeneration. Highlights include:
- Sciton HALO Laser: Hybrid fractional (ablative + non-ablative) for comprehensive rejuvenation excellent for sunspots, melasma, dullness, fine lines, and photoaging glow.
- Sciton Contour TRL (including NanoLaserPeel and Micro Laser Peel): Tunable resurfacing at customizable depths to remove damaged layers. Deeper treatments profoundly soften deep lines from muscle movement and crepey texture (with more downtime), while lighter options minimize recovery patients love the dramatic results.
- Sciton ProFractional Laser: Fractionated energy for targeted collagen remodeling ideal for texture, scars, and sun-linked pigmentation.
- BBL Photo Facials (Sciton’s advanced IPL): Gently clears brown/red spots, evens tone, and brightens with little to no downtime.

What to Expect During and After Your Laser Treatment
We structure your journey for safety and best outcomes:
- Pre-Procedure: Dedicated pre-procedure appointment with me to review your plan and expectations. Prescription meds for comfort if needed (deeper resurfacing may require a driver we’ll advise).
- During: Comfort-focused experience. Pronox is available.
- Immediately After: Biostimulating treatment such as exosomes or PDRN to accelerate healing, combined with a cooling mask. Post-treatment kits provided moisturizing is priority #1 for healing. We carry Jane Iredale clean mineral makeup, approved for use post-procedure about Days 5-7.
- Follow-Up: Appointments with me to monitor progress, address concerns, and take progress photos.
- Timeline: Varies by depth and type of laser. Fractional treatments such as Profractional and HALO heal faster, but require multiple treatment treatments to achieve best results. Contour TRL treatments require about 7-10 days social downtime.
- Days 1–3: Redness/swelling (sunburn-like warmth). Discomfort especially when cleansing can be expected, but this will pass.
- Days 4–7: Skin starts to dry and tighten, some peeling may occur.
- Days 7–14: Brightening, improved texture, fading sensitivity.
- Beyond: Collagen builds over 3–6 months for full smoothing, tone, and firmness.

Prep Is Key: Medical-Grade Skincare Essentials
Primed skin yields superior results. Medical-grade skincare pre- and post-procedure strengthens the barrier, boosts tolerance, and amplifies outcomes.

If you’ve been with us for any length of time, you know ZO Skin Health skincare is one of the fundamentals to our overall philosophy to healthy skin. If you’ve been using it for your skincare, especially if you’ve got a retinol in your regimen, your skin barrier is likely already prepared! Well done!
