Neuromodulators such as Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin make muscles in the face and neck relax, flattening wrinkles, lines, and deep furrows in the process.  The effect is temporary, but over time wrinkles will actually fade.

How do neuromodulators work?

Neuromodulators are a therapeutic agent derived from the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum.  Small doses target muscle contractions by blocking electrical communication from the nerve cells which normally tell the muscles to contract.  By reducing the ability of muscle contraction, wrinkles are decreased.  

How long does the effect of neuromodulator last?

About 3-4 months depending on the individual, but, with time, less neuromodulator may be required as the muscles causing the wrinkles weaken.

When will I see results?

Results are usually noticed in 3-5 days, but the full effect isn’t seen for about 2 weeks.

What does treatment cost?

Each brand of neuromodulator has different pricing, and each area of the face will require different amounts of neuromodulator.  Pricing will also vary throughout the year depending on office specials and company promotions. For the most up to date pricing, please call our office.

How many units will I need?

Men, on average need more units per site than women. Each “site” has a range of units needed to get the desired effect:

Most common sites:

Glabella  (10-50 units) – The frown lines between the eyes. This is the most popular site to treat.

Crow’s feet (10-20 units)-  The wrinkle lines around the eyes.

Forehead lines (6-20 units)-  The horizontal lines on the forehead.

Around the mouth (4-10) units- Wrinkles around the corners of the mouth and around the lips.   We can also relax the lips, giving a “lip flip”  for a  fuller appearance.    

Bunny lines (5-10 units)- The lines on either side of your nose when you scrunch your face.

“Chemical” Brow lift (5-10 units)- We can place a small amount of neuromodulator to bring the outside of the brow up, giving you a more lively appearance.

Hyperhidrosis is excessive perspiration. Neuromodulators can block pores and promote healthier levels of perspiration.

Most common treatment areas:

Axilla (underarm) – 1 to 2 treatments per year. Results typically last 7 months to 1 year, 50 units per side, 100 units total.

Palms – 1-4 treatments per year.  Results typically last 3-6 months. 100 units per palm, 200       units total.

Soles of feet – 1-4 treatments per year. Results typically last 3-4 months. 150 units per sole,   300 units total.
