The Hype over HydraFacial: Are They Really Better than a Regular Facial?

The Hype over HydraFacial: Are They Really Better than a Regular Facial?

Perhaps you’ve heard the celebrity hype surrounding HydraFacials? While the average spa facial is great, the HydraFacial knocks it out of the park for overall skin improvement and lasting effects.

As one of the top in-office facial procedures, the HydraFacial cleanses, extracts and hydrates leaving your skin the best it has ever been after approximately 30 minutes. This resurfacing treatment literally sucks out all the gunk and grime, and then gives it a much-needed drink using nourishing serums.

The HydraFacial targets the most common skin conditions from blackheads to dryness and not only do you leave with your skin feeling brand new – that feeling lasts and improves over time unlike spa facials. It’s no wonder there is a HydraFacial procedure done every 15 seconds around the globe.

Here’s MeiRai’s aesthetician, Chloe, to explain the process and answers some popular questions:

1. Is there any downtime with a HydraFacial?
No. The HydraFacial doesn’t require any downtime and would in fact be perfect before a special event to give you that extra glow and flawless complexion. Make-up can be applied directly after your treatment.

2. Who would be a good candidate for this treatment?
The HydraFacial is great for all skin types. Treatments can also be customized for your specific skin/wants and needs.

3. What should I expect for results?
Your skin will be hydrated and glowing immediately after your treatment. You will notice the “HydraFacial glow” to last for about one week after treatment. You will see immediate as well as lasting results such as smaller pores, even complexion and overall healthier skin. You will see the maximum results after three treatments.

4. What should I do to care for my skin after my HydraFacial treatment?
Two days pre and post-treatment do not use any retinol based products, acne medications or AHA/BHA’s. Three days pre and post-treatment do not use tanning beds or receive any facial waxing. Also, be sure to use a sunscreen with a minimum of SPF 50 because your skin may be more sensitive due to the acids in the treatment.

5. How long is the HydraFacial treatment?
Our signature HydraFacial lasts approximately 30 minutes; however, we do offer an expedited version that lasts about 20 minutes. If you are receiving a deluxe HydraFacial or a booster, your treatment will be 45 minutes to an hour.

6. Does the HydraFacial hurt?
No. Some people describe it as a cat’s tongue moving across your skin. Some mild
tingling/warmth during the acid peel is completely normal and can be neutralized.

7. Is HydraFacial just for hydration?
No. Although the HydraFacial does hydrate your skin, it also cleanses, extracts and protects from environmental free radicals which can help with complexion, pore size, skin tone and texture, and acne/acne scarring. We also offer boosters that can help with signs of aging such as fine lines and wrinkles, and age spots/hyperpigmentation.

8. How often should I get a HydraFacial?
I recommend getting a treatment once a month because your skin’s cell cycle turnover is
every 28 days so that is when you will see the best results and it will help you to maintain healthy skin.

9. What areas can be treated with HydraFacial?
Most common areas for this treatment are the face, nec, and decollete. Although, your back, arms and legs can also be treated.

10. Can I get a HydraFacial in conjunction with surgical or non-surgical treatments?
The HydraFacial can enhance the results of treatments such as botox and filler. One of my favorite treatments we offer is adding on dermaplaning right before your HydraFacial.
