Kybella, deoxycholic acid, is a naturally occurring substance in the body that is produced to help digest dietary fat. In aesthetics, it has been found to be useful to permanently remove unwanted fat cells in the chin area. However, while Kybella has been FDA approved for use in treating “double-chin”, it is commonly used used in other areas as well. Treatment usually involves a series of 2-6 injections 4 weeks apart.

What to Expect
- Your treatment area will be cleaned and then injected in multiple places with Kybella that has been mixed with lidocaine to increase comfort. Most patients say the injections are easier and more comfortable than expected.
- Immediately after your treatment you will experience a mild to medium soreness along with a large amount of swelling. This initial swelling will last two to three days, with residual swelling and soreness that may last anywhere from seven days to four weeks.
- For full correction, a series of two to six treatments may be necessary, however, the swelling and soreness usually decrease with each treatment.
