DERMAL FILLERS

What Are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are one of the most popular ways to achieve natural looking, non-surgical skin rejuvenation.

MeiRai Medical Aesthetics uses a wide variety of the highest quality dermal fillers to fit each patient’s needs perfectly.  Injectable fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, a clear substance naturally produced in the skin. Fillers can be used in a variety of places in the face to improve changes related to the natural aging process.

We all know that age and sun can cause skin to thin and lose the elasticity that it once had.  Hyaluronic acid fillers were traditionally used to fill that space in an attempt to conceal wrinkles.  We now know that there are changes to the bony facial skeleton and loss of critical “fat pads” in the face that change characteristically as we age.  These changes are noted by the human eye to give the perception of age.  In many cases, by placing hyaluronic acid and sometimes thicker calcium hydroxylapatite fillers into strategic places where age-related loss occurs, we can now re-drape and lift skin to achieve a more natural rejuvenation.

Most Common Dermal Filler Treatments

Cheeks- (Restylane Lyft, Juvederm Voluma, Radiesse) As we age, we lose volume in the cheeks. Filling certain parts of the cheek gives a contoured appearance and can lift skin, which can minimize wrinkles above the lips.

Tear Trough (under eye)- Injecting the hollow under the eyes can result in a more youthful and awake appearance.

Jawline enhancement-  (Restylane Lyft, Juvederm Voluma, Radiesse) Filler in the jawline will give a more sharp, contoured appearance and help to hide “jowling”.

Lips- (Juvederm ultra XC+, Restylane, Versa) A popular area to fix aging, thin lips or to achieve a more plump, pouty look. We can customize to your wishes!

Temples– (Radiesse, Restylane Lyft, Voluma) Volume lost in the temples will give a hollow appearance.  By filling this area, the face will look smoother and more youthful.

Around the mouth- (Beloterro, Refyne, Defyne) One of the most common complaints we get are those annoying lines that form around your mouth, known as perioral lines or marionette lines.  We can inject the right product to smooth and conceal.

Laugh lines/ nasolabial fold– The diagonal lines that run from the nose to the corner of the mouth. As we age and the skin sags, we lose bone volume around the nose.  Filler can help to smooth this area.

Chin– Filler in this area can dramatically improve your profile without surgery.

Dermal Filler FAQs

How long will the filler last?

The filler is broken down in the body, and everyone metabolizes filler differently.  Some types of filler last longer than others, and filler injected into some areas last longer than filler in other areas.  Also, it is easier to “maintain” volume than start from scratch. Below are approximate longevity for common treatments:

Lips, around the mouth: 6-12 months.

Cheek, temple, tear trough, nasolabial fold, jawline, chin: 9-18 months.

How much does it cost?

The price varies depending on certain factors. Different areas require different types of filler, each of which may be priced differently. Also, some areas require more than one syringe of filler to accomplish the desired result. Our specialists can discuss your options with you at your free consultation.

What is the recovery time?

About 2 weeks.  So plan ahead for any event so that you have time for any swelling or bruising to resolve.
